The ghost shrimp, thalassinideans, belongs to the crustacean infraorder which is more closely related to the anomurans and crabs than they are to shrimp. The ghost shrimp’s tail is primarily used to navigate through water and through its burrow. Its modulated exoskeletal structure allows for tail flexibility; each unit fitting into the next and all working together as one cohesive system. The tectonic quality of the ghost shrimp inspired the production of a welded kinetic tail and consequently a proposal for an innovative pavilion.
